Discovering the laboratory: a rewarding experience for five ninth-grade trainees

The week of December 16 to 20, 2024 was marked by a unique experience for Nita, Ismaël, Nathan, Matteo and Ronan, trainees in the ninth grade, who had the opportunity to discover the laboratory, a place where science and passion meet.

This immersion enabled the schoolchildren to meet committed professionals, whether researchers, engineers, technicians or administrative staff. Each member of the team was delighted to share their knowledge and know-how, giving the trainees a concrete insight into the world of research.

The instructive week began with a presentation on plasmas and lasers. This introduction aroused the curiosity of the young people and enabled them to understand the importance of these phenomena in various technological applications.

After this initial introduction, the trainees had the chance to explore the laboratory’s various research themes. From plasma physics to astrochemistry, everyone was able to immerse themselves in innovative and inspiring projects. These discoveries showed them how scientific research contributes to solving concrete problems while pushing the limits of our understanding of the world.

The experience of working in the laboratory was an enriching one for the five schoolchildren. Thanks to the encounters and discoveries they made, they left with lasting memories and renewed inspiration to continue exploring the fascinating world of science. This initiative demonstrates the importance of introducing young minds to research, as they will be the scientists of tomorrow.
