The WHISCI and WHeSCI projects are an ambitious collaborative effort, where multi-scale theories are strongly coupled to and validated by dedicated and well-controlled experiments. A quick overview of the partners' role is given in the following diagram:

Diagram showing partners' role

The collaboration is made of 7 partners:
Partner 1: the "Plasma-Surface", the "Atomic Physics & Transport in Plasma" and the "Hydrogen Molecules & Materials" groups of11:54 12/04/2023 the PIIM laboratory join their experimental and theoretical expertise under the supervision of R. Bisson, coordinator of the WHISCI and WHeSCI projects. Experimental studies are led by T. Angot, R. Bisson, G. Cartry, C. Martin and C. Pardanaud. The theoretical contribution of the PIIM laboratory is made through DFT modelling led by Y. Ferro and coupling to edge plasma modelling led by Y. Marandet.
Partner 2: the Institute for Magnetic Fusion (IRFM) of the CEA is represented by C. Grisolia, which is responsible of the Macroscopic (MRE) model development.
Partner 3: the Fresnel Institute is represented by L. Gallais, responsible of the laser-material interaction part of the project.
Partner 4: the CEMHTI laboratory is in charge of bulk defects creation and characterization. This experimental effort is led by M.-F. Barthe.
Partner 5: the UMET laboratory is in charge through C. Becquart of the micro/meso-scopic modelling.
Partner 6: the LSPM laboratory is represented by J. Mougenot, working on the MRE model development.
Partner 7: the Jozef Stefan Institute is represented by S. Markelj, working on fuel bulk profiling.
